Identily Web Application

Overview

Identily is a web-based encryption and decryption application designed for secure file sharing. It uses biometric face verification and email-based identity confirmation to ensure end-to-end security.

I was the sole product designer of the team.

I joined Identily as the only designer and led the product design strategy, creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final designs that aligned both with user needs and technical requirements. Some of the key achievements of which I have listed below:

1 ) Turned an idea into a product.

I took initial idea documents from stakeholders and transformed them into design solutions — from raw wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes. I collaborated closely with the founder and team to shape the product vision and strategy for Identily, ensuring that every design decision was grounded in business goals as well as usability.

2 ) Juggled many different hats.

Because the product was first envisioned as a desktop version before shifting to a web application, I had to constantly think about technical constraints and evolving requirements. I designed solutions that balanced developer needs, stakeholder expectations, and real user feedback, making sure the product remained feasible and scalable.

3 ) Pitched to investors.

Beyond product design, I also contributed to pitching Identily to potential investors. I not only designed the pitch materials but also presented them directly to investors in the US, building confidence in our vision and product strategy.

Understanding the Problem

Through discussions with stakeholders, it was revealed that :

- Existing file-sharing tools like Google Drive and Dropbox easy to use but lack biometric verification.

- Relying on passwords is risky — they can be shared, stolen, or hacked , especially when sharing sensitive information.

- There’s limited visibility or traceability over who accesses shared files.

Product Vision and Solution

From these findings, we decided as a product to identify key business goals :

- To design a secure file-sharing platform that allows sharing with minimal steps while maintaining high usability.

- To enable secure access through biometric face verification to reduce risks associated with password-based authentication.

- We want to provide clear traceability by showing exactly who accessed files and when, ensuring accountability and compliance.

Design Process

Designs

To validate the proposed flows, I began with raw wireframes for each major section. These wireframes allowed the leadership team to confirm direction before moving into detailed UI design.

Once the flows were approved, I

- Designed clean, responsive UI screens informed by research insights and stakeholder feedback.

- Collaborated closely with the development team to hand off assets, maintain consistency, and address implementation challenges.

- Created additional screens in parallel with development to support an agile pace of delivery.

- Applied the Material Design System to ensure visual consistency, accessibility, and development efficiency across the platform.

What I Learned

Some key takeaways from this project are:

1 ) Teamwork Matters

Strong collaboration between design and engineering is essential. By working together from the start, I was able to understand technical limitations early, align on feasible solutions, and reduce rework.

2 ) Design is Continuous

User testing doesn’t stop after launch. Design is an ongoing process of iteration and improvement, guided by real feedback from end users.

3 ) Flexibility in UX Design

Balancing stakeholder requirements with real user needs is key. Staying flexible ensures projects remain aligned with business goals while delivering meaningful user experiences.

4 ) Create a Strategic MVP Plan

Defining a clear MVP scope helps manage out-of-scope requests, keeps the team focused, and ensures a quality product is delivered on time.
